KREST Author, Michael Ferguson, at Comic Con

Being a KREST House author means signings, launches, interviews and events. These are the mediums through which our authors are able to share their inspiring stories and move communities to betterment.

One of the international events that we are grateful to have been given platform on is Comic Con. For over a year now, KREST authors have graced Comic Con stages in South Africa to inspire those who have an imaginative story to tell.

At this year’s Comic Con Cape Town, our publishing house was represented by author Michael Ferguson. Michael is the author of The Luciferian Mythos, a trilogy that currently consists of two published books, a work-progress-final installment, and an art book (all published by The KREST House). Michael took the stage on two days of the four-day event to be a source of motivation for aspiring authors. His first session was about fantasy and science-fiction in the publishing landscape of South Africa. These are still very niche genres in SA and The KREST House is proud to be one of the first publishers in South Africa to progress these genres. His second session was about traditional versus self-publishing in South Africa. The publishing company an author chooses is entirely dependent on what they want their author journey to look like, and it definitely doesn’t need to look the same for everyone. We are one of the few publishing companies in South Africa that offer both traditional and self-publishing options.

Congratulations to author Michael Ferguson for completing another round of Comic Con, and representing The KREST House proudly wherever he goes.

Here is more information about Michael’s books.

A PROPHECY OF FLOWERS AND LIGHTNING

Book 1 of the Luciferian Mythos

“I would rather die at your side than watch the world burn from inside your embrace.”

In a world of gods and monsters, a prophecy is made, a war is waged, and a legend is born.

Cursed from birth by the gods with the power of foresight, Cadence is ostracised. Hated by his father, berated by his brothers, and shunned by his community, Cadence leads a lonely existence.

Destinies collide when Cadence meets Arlo, the demigod prince of the Luciferian Empire, and the two have no idea how deeply connected they really are by the Great Cosmic Web of the Fates. A friendship quickly blooms into something more as the two youths navigate the worlds of duty and their emotions together.

The Empire of Luciferian is ruled over by the iron first of the power-hungry Emperor Abydos, and by his side is Arsinoe, mysterious sorceress and Empress of the Luciferian. In his never-ending quest to dominate, he awakens a dark force that will bring famine, war, and ultimate devastation to the Empire.

Arlo and Cadence have an integral role to play in the war to come, one in which their combined demise has been prophesied. Can Cadence and Arlo break the web the Fates have woven for them, or will they become entangled by it?

A GOD OF FLAMES AND MONSTERS

Book 2 of the Luciferian Mythos

“Do you know what it is to make an enemy of a god?”

Return to the world of Hathuldria and the Empire of Luciferian where gods, monsters, and heroes await you.

Orion’s pampered and privileged life as the son of a wealthy merchant is changed forever when he is forced to make an ominous deal with Obsidian – the god of the dead – to save the life of the man he loves.

But when the time comes for him to hold up his end of the bargain with the god, he discovers he is in way over his head. Orion now needs to learn how to survive among deadly monsters, as well as the scorned gods who cursed them, while doing the bidding of the Lord of the Dead.

His lonely path also crosses that of an arrogant demigod, Eric, whose destiny has placed a chip on his shoulder and a target on his back. But there is more going on than meets the eye. Obsidian is brewing a dark and vengeful plot that he will stop at nothing to fulfill. Orion and Eric must learn to work together before these plans can come to fruition and reshape the face of the Luciferian Empire as well as its pantheon of gods for eternity.

Myth and legend abound in this spellbinding sequel to A Prophecy of Flowers and Lightning.
